Pastor Carlos Liese was raised in Peru, where he learned Spanish and is fully bilingual. He has been in the ministry since 1972. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in 1971. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 1975. He served in small Hispanic missions in the states of Texas and Illinois and served as pastor at First Spanish Baptist Church of Detroit from 1983-2008. From 2009-2012 he has served as the Language Ministries Leader for the Baptist State Convention of Michigan. He has worked with Evangelist Sammy Tippitt as an interpreter for evangelistic crusades in Cuba, Mexico and Peru. He taught in the Urban Ministry program of the former William Tyndale College (located in Farmington Hills, MI) for several years and served on the board of directors for the following Detroit social agencies: LASED (Latin Americans for Social and Economic Development) and Latino Family Services. He and his wife Donna have been married since 1970 and have two daughters, Wendy and Keri.
